Registered Massage Therapy

This treatment focusses on your personal needs, manipulating the soft-tissues of the body to relieve pain, help rehabilitate injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, increase relaxation, and aid in the general wellness of clients.

Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage

These styles of treatment can be either relaxing or stimulating and are performed directly on the skin, using oils or lotions as a lubricant to make the techniques more comfortable. Before treatment begins, clients will be given privacy to undress to their level of comfort and lie under a sheet and blanket upon the table. Through the course of the treatment, only one area of the body will be uncovered and worked on at a time. Most of the time the therapist's hands rarely break contact from the client's skin as the techniques are dynamic and glide over the tissues in a continuous flow. Once the muscles are warmed up and begin to relax the therapist may also employ deeper techniques with sustained holding or pressure to release knots or contracted muscles, within the client's comfort level.

Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu is a form of massage originating from Japan, translated as “finger pressure” it uses thumbs and fingers much like acupuncture to stimulate the body’s own natural healing abilities. Shiatsu massage promotes health and well-being. Treatments are dynamic and treat each client in an individual way and will address the whole body in order to engage the physical body’s overall constitution. Shiatsu techniques seek to calm the nervous system, improve circulation, relieve stiff muscles and alleviate stress.

Tui Na and Acupressure Therapy

Originating from China and the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tui Na (pronounced Tway Nah) is one of the oldest forms of massage. It is the main form of massage or "external healing" practice in China to this day and is the historical root from which all contemporary massage has evolved from. In a treatment, a practitioner will utilize fingers, knuckles, palms, wrists, forearms and elbows in order to perform movements such as pushing, grasping, kneading, rolling, rocking, pulling, etc. Tui Na follows the classic Meridians of TCM and therefore seeks to open the channels, clear blockages and activate acupoints using Acupressure. Cupping and Moxibustion are auxiliary methods of treatment employed throughout Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as other modalities scattered across the world. They may be combined with treatments in order release and move stagnation found deep within the tissues.

Shiatsu with Ivan Roberts-Davis

Shiatsu is a form of bodywork that takes a holistic approach to healing a range of physical and emotional conditions or disruptions. It is different than other forms of massage since it is performed through clothing and no oils are used. A shiatsu treatment consists of pressure applied with fingers, thumbs, elbows and knees to areas all over the body, along with gentle, guided stretches. My practice is informed by modern physiology and anatomy, as well as the meridian and point systems of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I have experience treating clients with complaints related to pregnancy, muscular pain and stiffness, headaches, stress, digestive conditions and more. Since graduating from the Shiatsu School of Canada's 2200-hour two-year shiatsu program, I have continued education in hot stone massage, shiatsu for facial rejuvenation and reiki. I'm passionate about my work and am honoured to be a part of any individual's wellness plan.
